The Role

The Global Category Manager Logistics is responsible for driving and implementing the logistics procurement strategy and standards across the globe and takes accountability for delivering targeted results in a global logistics category (ocean freight, road freight or warehousing). You have the ability to build and manage successful business partnerships, providing market insights and future expectations.

Using your strong influencing skills, you are able to drive change in optimization and carbon reduction initiatives. The role holder must be able to work independently, form strong relationships and have a strategic focus beyond category management and analysis. As part of this role there is a need for stakeholder management with various different departments and levels: Global Logistics, Finance, Factories, Supply Chain and external suppliers. The Global Category Manager Logistics is expected to balance between the delivery of transparent short-term results and strategic objectives.

 

Characteristics:

  • An exciting international position in a newly formed team that has the independence to set-up the logistics procurement function
  • A global role, located in Warsaw; at least 20% travel is required
  • An interesting combination of managing internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers

Principal Accountabilities

  • Acting as a trusted partner to the business driving procurement results in logistics
  • Provide market insights and analysis for the major cost elements in a logistics category and flag potential risks
  • Build and roll-out the procurement strategy for a global logistics category
  • Contribute to the execution of end-to-end logistics and net zero strategies with key stakeholders
  • Ensure forward thinking on logistics procurement, the supply base and commercial value is fit for the future
  • Pro-actively drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement to drive costs down while maintaining quality and reducing planet impact
  • Identify and manage risks; ensuring that suppliers meet our safety, security and quality requirements and respect our Code of Conduct. Actively contribute to building business continuity plans
  • Lead global RFQs, negotiating and contracting, in conjunction with global logistics and local procurement teams

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in similar roles, ideally with FMCG sector experience, with a proven track record
  • Relevant degree/qualifications in business economics/logistics/procurement
  • Able to work independently, intellectually curious, able to develop independent perspective based on facts and have conversations around opportunities, risks, issues, and solutions
  • A proven track record being part of high performing and diverse teams
  • Continuous improvement and strategic thinking mindset to engage, influence and change
  • Proven influencing skills at a senior level
  • Proven quantitative and qualitative skills; being able to analyse data, draw conclusions, identify trends and issues
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple formats
  • Results-driven, strong performance orientation. Ability to deliver against objectives
  • Fosters teamwork, creating a work culture that values collaboration.

  • Cross cultural experience is preferred
  • Experience of using Procurement spend tools & analytics desirable

 

 

  • Change Management: Managing internal stakeholders is crucial for a successful roll-out of the category strategy. The candidate should have proven experience working in a fast-paced complex supply chain environment (e.g. FMCG, automotive, aerospace, medical devices, pharma, etc.)

 

  • Communication skills: Outstanding communication skills on different levels of the organization, as well as with suppliers are required to boost collaboration and buy-in. Excellent command of English in verbal, reading and writing is required.
