The Role

Reporting to the PLM and Compliance Platform Lead, the PLM Architect will be responsible for creating the PLM architectures and designs, and overseeing and providing technical guidance to projects delivering relevant solutions. In doing so, the PLM Architect will seek opportunities to build out and leverage existing components of the platform and reusable services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform hands-on solution design, solution architectures, architecture roadmaps, prototyping, proof-of-concepts, and development tasks as required in support of current and new projects
  • Ensure solution is scalable and meets overall business requirements
  • Act as a liaison between Technical team, Vendors and Business Partners, and Enterprise Architecture to drive implementations 
  • Be recognised as a functional expert in relevant Domain Architecture
  • Conduct Solution Architecture reviews with project teams prior to design and development activities and ensure solution is scalable, is aligned with internal product roadmaps and meets customers’ business requirements
  • Guide technical team & vendors to deliver a flexible and scalable solutions
  • Work with offshore teams as required
  • Participate in shaping demand activities and internal initiatives as required

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Domain Requirements (PLM)

  • PLM data modelling, integration patterns and architecture best practices
  • PLM (Aras) offerings, including licensing options
  • An experienced PLM architect (Print / PCC / BOM / Material Management / Compliance), able to help our Imperial PLM community assess their current digital technology maturity, identify gaps and shape a comprehensive, end-to-end digital blueprint and technology roadmap
  • At minimum 5+ years’ experience with the Aras Innovator product
  • Experienced in supporting business development activities, including designing and top-down and bottom-up estimating PLM solutions based on minimal requirements provided by Business Partners

General Requirements

  • Extensive experience in systems development and an understanding of the systems development / delivery life cycle including requirements and design
  • Strong Information analysis, modelling and database design skills
  • Breadth of knowledge in established and emerging data technologies, including Big Data and ‘as a service’ architectures
  • Strong problem solving, communication, relationship building skills
  • Engaging, articulate and able to influence across internal IS and business stakeholders
  • Natural gravitas based on foundation of sound knowledge of subject matter and communication abilities. Strong and inspirational leadership qualities and a common sense approach.
  • Proven networking skills and stakeholder management skills with a good understanding of the wider objectives.
  • Ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Fluent oral and written English language skills

Desirable:

  • FMCG background and experience
