THE ROLE

As Senior Development Lab Analyst, you will provide direct support to the Laboratory Manager (and/or deputy) in all day-to-day aspects of the analytical lab department. You will ensure that all methods and equipment used are scientifically sound and fulfil the quality requirements appropriate for the respective business requirement. In addition, you will support the lab function and ensure accurate/timely analysis for routine and non-routine products. The role holder will perform, check, and validate all analysis performed and be highly competent in all analytical techniques undertaken.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform method expansion of new and adapted methodologies, ensuring their proper validation in accordance with ICH guidelines and internal quality requirements.
  • Undertake troubleshooting analysis using routine and non-routine methodologies.
  • Manage the organisation and performance of the introduction and validation (VP, URS, DQ, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, VR & VC) of new/existing equipment in accordance with current practices.
  • Be responsible for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate/participate in laboratory studies.
  • Assist laboratory management with projects, experimental planning, and implementation.
  • Continuously research current literature, guidelines, and industry standard methods for NGP products.
  • Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
  • Assist with the identification of technical needs and source relevant internal and external expertise when required.
  • Ensure & foster good working relationships between technical functions to allow laboratory requirements to be shared and understood by all areas.
  • Produce & maintain all relevant documents such as written reports, validation documents, and records.
  • Author, update and adhere to equipment and method SOPs as required.
  • Provide monthly updates on projects undertaken.
  • Support development of new/junior analysts, as required.
  • Actively participate in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Perform general laboratory housekeeping tasks, including ordering, and maintaining stock levels of laboratory consumables.
  • Operate and troubleshoot lab related software.
  • Organise individual projects and adhere to all business policies & procedures and perform any other tasks as required by their line manager and/or business.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Expert knowledge of method and equipment validation processes in accordance with ICH guidelines
  • Expert knowledge of HPLC, GC & Pharmacopeia analysis is essential.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement procedures & processes which ensure compliance to GxP and other relevant regulatory standards.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Strong technical, analytical, report and writing skills.
  • Decisive thinker able to work within agreed timescales.
  • Understanding of statistical techniques

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience of analytical method development and equipment / method validation within an analytical laboratory / regulated laboratory
  • Area of expertise preferred: Method Development, Validation, Regulatory and/or Nicotine products.
  • Degree or higher in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific discipline is essential (5+ years laboratory experience is equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Practical knowledge of other lab equipment/methodologies including but not limited to Karl Fischer, pH, FTIR, GC-MS, Auto-titrators.
  • Good level of IT skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to organise individual projects in line with department priorities.
  • Ability to work against challenging timelines.
  • Excellent analytical skills
